OPTIMUS PRIME – Custom Transformers Figure / Painted & Customised Model

This is a highly detailed figure, which has been modified and completely repainted. I used the Xovergen Grand Patriot figure whose trailer opens out as pictured above. I made a pair of "battle blades" which fit into the fuel tanks, which you can see in the photo below - I used a blending technique to paint the glow on the blades. The chrome tanks fit onto the side of the trailer when transformed into truck mode. The photo below shows the back view. All of the battle damage that you see across the whole figure has been hand painted on bit by bit - a long and hour consuming task! The photo below shows his chest open to reveal the Matrix of Leadership. The whole figure is painted with lacquer, polyurethane and enamel paints to ensure a long lasting and durable finish. The painting techniques I used include blending, layering, dry brushing and lots of highlighting - some washes and panel lining. I removed the flimsy ball joint neck and replaced it with a magnet. There are 3 interchangeable heads which have all been fitted with magnets so that you can choose which head you want on at any time - these are pictured below. They have all been completed painted in detail. As with many repainted Transformer models, there is a rub point which cannot be avoided, this is under his backpack and is only really visible during transformation, it cannot be seen in bot mode or in truck mode - please see the photo below..
